President's Corner

As I  write these words for the January Newsletter,it's a little before Christmas,so sort of too early to say hope you had a Merry Christmas, but by the time you read this it will probably be after Christmas so...hope you had a Merry Christmas

We had two auctions to work with the lunch wagon during December, two week-ends in a row. Neither was a record breaker, but at least the auctioneers know we can be counted on , and some future auctions will no doubt be good(which I'll define as over $500 gross) We need to have more people supporting working the lunch wagon, even if it's just to learn how to operate the thing so they can be called upon if the regulars can't make it.

Our Region Chairman,Leon Martin, is on the schedule to visit our January meeting. There may be others in addition to Leon to give presentations also, don't know right now.I do know that there were statements made at the cabinet meeting   to the effect that the Geneseo Club is planning to disband--that we had sold the lunch wagon because no one would work it and so on---.Admittedly, we aren't able to do all the things we once did and membership has declined, but I don't think we are on the verge of collapse. However,we do need to work on ways to increase our membership. Therefore, ournext meeting will be devoted to Leon Martin's comments and Membership Chairman Jim Zack will give a presentation on new  and different ways to recruit newmembers. One of the ways is a deviation from the "Just ask them" method. It is a "Back Door" approach to Lionism and involves a passive technique.

The Region Meeting in Andalusia is at 6:30PM and we need a good represntation at that meeting from our club.

Finally don't forget the Pancake Breakfast on Feb 1!! We'll need everones's help to again make this a sucess and a big fundraiser.
